The brief:

Hand in date- 7th January 2020 (3pm)!!!

We have to hand it in physically on a pen drive (or CD).

We have to give in blog, PDF print-out documenting and reflecting upon weekly software and feedback sessions with 'self-directed' development also included by the way of articles, publications, web links.

40% User research project
60% Practical project

We have to choose one of the briefs from the Creative Conscience hand-out.

We need to use a design process to produce, viable ideas and outcomes in answer to your brief.

I need to do research in relation to the brief, create multiple different initial ideas, explore my subject area, produce experimental products answering my brief, and correlate all my work into a succinct project presentation.

We need to have a portfolio that shows:
Principles of user experience design/user centred design . User centred design processes
. Sketching User Experiences
. Generating Flow Diagrams and Navigational Maps

. Confidence building in developing user stores and scenarios
. Developing more refined confidences in generating Wireframes and Storyboards . Graphical User Interface Design
. Prototyping Techniques (paper and digital)
. Graphical mock ups of Concept and User
Access and Sharing. Designing for usability and purpose.

Things we need to hand in:
. A link to my blog
. Link to any videos I do for the course
. Folder of scanned in sketches, storyboards or photos and images
. Individual 'Pitch deck' presentation (20-30 slides)
. A 250 word reflective essay

    7. Critical Judgement and Analytical Ability:
    8. Technical Skills:
    9. Project Management:

3. To assess effective usability and user experience design
4. To develop students’ awareness of contemporary issues in UX

5. To develop a more advanced understanding of emerging digital and non digital tools used in UX design.

We were given a hand-out that had our brief on it

Open brief: "The Open Brief is your chance to create a project that deals with any issue you're passionate about solving. Identify something that isn't working in the world around you and look for a solution, however big or small." This one can be any crisis or issue that you are passionate about.

Mental health: "How can you use your creative skills to aid this with mental health issues? If your life or the life of those around you has been touched by mental health issues, then use these experiences as possible entry points into the brief and as a means of research to explore potential routes and solutions." Past trauma, chemical in-balance, stress, professionals, studying life, uni life.

Equality:  "Equality is a human right. Both men and women are entitled to live with dignity and with freedom from want and from fear. Whether this be gender equality as a precondition for advancing development and reducing poverty: empowered women contribute to the health and productivity of whole communities, improving the prospects for the next generation. Or more the general human rights for minorities, those under threat of being suppressed or living in fear because of who they are or what they believe." This could be gender, equal rights, race, homophobia. Anything that we are passionate about, anything to do with equality.

Refugee crisis: "The most basic requirements for refugees to regain their independence are housing, language and employment. Without housing, people become destitute; without the ability to speak the local language, it is very difficult to get a job, without employment independence is almost impossible." How people receive immigrants and refugees, benefits, can make it light-hearted.

I think that I am going to be doing the open brief, this is because I really want to create something for vegetarianism and veganism.

Final reflection

Overall, I have not liked this project very much. This is because it did not add anything on top of what we learnt last year, as well as it ...
